The
Morin Funeral Home, founded by the late Omer P. LaChapelle, has been serving the the Franco- American community
in Worcester in its present location since 1926.
The former LaChapelle Funeral Home was purchased by Adelard G. Morin
in 1959. Mr. Morin, a kind and gentle man, was a consumate funeral service professional who ran the business with
compassion and caring, always putting the needs of bereaved families first. In the 1960's Mr. Morin expanded the
facilities, creating one of Worcester's largest visitation rooms.
LaChapelle-Morin Funeral
Home later evolved into Morin Funeral Home, operated by Mr. Morin until
his retirment in 1986. At that time he sold the business to John J.
Kazlauskas, then owner of the Dirsa-Kazlauskas Funeral Home on nearby
Providence Street, thus creating Dirsa-Morin Funeral Homes Inc., Funeral
and Cremation Service.
John J. Kazlauskas, CFSP(Certified
Funeral Service Practicioner), is a first generation funeral director,
licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts since 1967. He is President
and CEO of the company and currently serves as Past Chairman of the
Board of Registration in Funeral Service for the Commonwealth Of Massachusetts.
An aggressive consumer advocate, Mr. Kazlauskas has served on the Board
since 1988. He also serves as District Governor of The International
Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards, and has been an active
member of The Professional Policy Committee. Additionally, in April
2003 Mr. Kazlauskas was elected President of The International Conference
of Funeral Service Examining Boards. A longtime member and former Director
of The Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association, he co-founded The
Greater Worcester Funeral Directors Association in 1979.
John Kazlauskas and Dirsa-Morin
Inc. continue to operate Morin Funeral Home at it's present location,
maintaining the tradition of service set by Omer LaChapelle and Adelard
Morin. Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home is a full service company, staffed around
the clock to respond to your needs with the caring and compassion that
our heritage dictates.
